DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1: Kigali to Akagera National Park – Helicopter transfer

Pick up from your hotel or residence in Kigali and go on a half day tour of Kigali city to explore some of the attractions within the city like the Genocide memorial center among others. Stop for lunch at a restaurant in Kigali and after drive to the airport for your helicopter transfer to Akagera national park where you will arrive in the park in about 30 minutes. Your tour guide will be waiting to pick you from the helipad and drive you to your lodge for check in, thereafter you will go to Lake Ihema for a rewarding boat trip where you will encounter hippos, crocodiles and a number of different water bird species. Return to your lodge for an overnight.

Day 2: Game drive in Akagera national park

Today we explore the only savannah national park in Rwanda on a full day game viewing expedition. Early morning game drive to catch up with the early park risers and some nocturnal animals, breakfast and more game viewing around the park. Expect to encounter the Big 5 while in Akagera national park, the lion, elephant, leopard, buffalo and the endangered rhinos among other mammals like the zebra, giraffe, impalas, topis among others and a good sighting of the parks’ rich avian life. Overnight at your lodge.

Day 3: Back to Kigali

After breakfast, you will have one last opportunity to catch a close sight of the park’s wildlife. As you drive to the helipad / airstrip for your helicopter transfer flight back to Kigali. You will be returned to your hotel in Kigali or continue to take your international flight back home.
