DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1: Kigali to Akagera national park
Pick up from your hotel and have a Kigali city tour visit the historical places, museums, crafts and local markets. Have lunch, drive to the airport for your helicopter transfer to Akagera national park. Embark on an introductory late afternoon game drive on arrival in the only savannah park in Rwanda. Overnight in Akagera
Day 2: Wildlife viewing in Akagera national park
Today you will explore the biggest national park in Rwanda for a chance to spot the different animals and birds that inhabit the savannah national park. Expect to encounter zebras, giraffes, lions, buffalos, rhinos, leopards, hyenas, warthogs, waterbucks, hippos, crocodiles, impalas, baboons, oribis and different bird species, African fish eagle, cormorants, hamerkop, weavers, papyrus gonolek, egrets and more.
Activities for today will be game drives and a boat trip on Lake Ihema. Overnight in Akagera
Day 3: Helicopter transfer to Nyungwe Forest national park
Morning game drive in Akagera national park for more wildlife viewing. You can opt for a guided walking safari or a hot air balloon safari over the plains and lakes of Akagera national park. Return to your lodge for check out and take a helicopter flight to Nyungwe Forest national park. You will have lunch at your lodge in Nyungwe and spend the rest of the day at leisure or you can walk around and take in the scenic views. Overnight in Nyungwe
Day 4: Chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe Forest
Chimpanzee trekking is the highlight of a visit to Nyungwe forest national park. You will be up early, have a briefing session at the trail heads before the park ranger leads the way into the lush forest starting your tracking of the playful and noisy chimpanzees. Spend an hour with the chimpanzee troop once you track it down and savor the moment. Return from the forest and drive back to your lodge for lunch and later go for the Canopy walk for a different view of the lush forest from the top. Overnight in Nyungwe
Day 5: Transfer to Lake Kivu – Volcanoes national park
After breakfast, you will drive to Lake Kivu to explore this beautiful lake, its scenic views, the islands and the water birds. Go on a boat ride on Lake Kivu time permitting you can engage in other activities at and around the Lake. After lunch, you will drive to the famous Volcanoes national park, check in and spend the rest of the day relaxing and recuperating. Overnight in Volcanoes
Day 6: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes national park
Today you take part in the highlight of most Rwanda safaris, Gorilla trekking which is carried out once a day in the early morning hours. Starts off with briefing, grouping of visitors into groups of 8 people and assigning of gorilla families to a particular group. Embark on your hike in search of the mountain gorillas of the Volcanoes national park. After the experience, return to your lodge for lunch and rest. Later on, time permitting, you will visit the Gorilla Guardians village. For a cultural tour. Overnight in Volcanoes
Day 7: Helicopter transfer to Kigali – Departure
Last breakfast in Rwanda’s wild side. Check out, drive to the airstrip and take your domestic flight back to Kigali airport for your international flight back home.
