DETAILED ITINERARY

4-Day Double Gorilla Trekking Safari in Rwanda

Day 1: Kigali – Volcanoes national park

On arrival at the airport in Rwanda, you will be picked up by your tour driver who will drive you to Kigali for a brief tour of the city time permitting depending on your arrival time in the country, otherwise you can just take your helicopter transfer flight to Volcanoes national park.

Or you will be picked from your hotel in Kigali after your breakfast and embark on a city tour, lunch in the afternoon and helicopter flight to Volcanoes national park. Overnight in Volcanoes in Musanze town.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes national park

You will be up early, have a light breakfast and pack some energy snack bars and water. Drive to the park headquarters for a pre-gorilla trekking briefing session and allocation to a group and gorilla family that you will be trekking today. Led by a park ranger guide, you will then start your trek in to the Volcanoes in search of the mighty mountain gorillas which can last from 2-6 hours or more depending on the location of the gorillas. Be aware of your surround as you hike the Volcano for some other wildlife sightings.

Return to the park offices and drive back to your lodge for lunch. After a moment of rest, you can head out for a cultural visit to the Gorilla Guardians village (Iby’iwacu village) for a rewarding Rwanda culture experience.

Day 3: Second Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes national park

The same procedure applies. You have a chance to compare and contrast the behaviors of the 2 gorilla families and your experience on both days.
You will have lunch back at your lodge and a later a visit to the scenic twin lakes near the Volcanoes national park. Lake Burera and Lake Ruhondo. Overnight at the lodge.

Day 4: End of safari – Departure

Last day in the Volcanoes national park. After your breakfast and a leisure morning. You will check out and the driver will take you to the airstrip. Catch helicopter flight back to Kigali to catch your flight back home.
