DETAILED ITINERARY

3-Day Rwanda Gorilla Trekking Tour in Volcanoes National Park

Day 1: Kigali to Volcanoes National Park – City tour and Helicopter transfer

Your tour guide will pick you from your hotel in Kigali after breakfast and take you on a half day city tour of Kigali City. You will visit the main historical and cultural sites within the city, that is the Kigali genocide memorial, presidential museum, Kandt national museum, Inema arts center, craft markets and any other time allowing. Lunch will be at a restaurant within the city and after, you will be driven to Kigali international airport to take your scenic helicopter flight over Kigali city to the Volcanoes national park which will take about 30-35 minutes. Spend the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight at your lodge.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes national park

Early rise and early morning breakfast then drive to the park’s headquarters for a briefing session and allocation of the mountain gorilla family you will be trekking today. Into the lush green forest, you go to track down the mountain gorillas with which you will be allowed one full hour in their presence. Return from your trek and head to your lodge for lunch and some down time. Optional activities after the trek time permitting include a guided nature walk or a visit to the nearby twin lakes. Overnight at your lodge.

Day 3: Cultural tour and Departure

After your breakfast, you will go on a guided cultural tour to the Gorilla Guardians village. Formerly the Iby’iwacu village to immerse yourself in authentic Rwanda culture. Also get to know about the ways of life of the people living around the park. Thereafter, you will be driven to the airstrip / helipad for your helicopter. Transfer back to Kigali international airport. End of safari.
